The power system must be designed to provide sufficient redundancy, eliminate all individual points of failure, and allow the isolation of a single system for testing or maintenance without affecting the power supplied to other systems. A synchronous inverter is different from an AC generator that is synchronized with another generator or connected to the grid. The synchronous inverter continuously samples the alternating current from the electrical grid and synthesizes an output to match, copying the waveform of the power grid with respect to voltage, frequency, and phase angle. This ensures that the system is able to provide reliable and consistent power even when there is an interruption in the main power supply.
